How could I have forgotten to post this collection? Perhaps it's because the understated and modern pieces shown by Nicolas Ghesquière for Balenciaga SS13 are so different from his usual fare of attention-grabbing fashion that it didn't register in my consciousness?

At any rate, there was a quiet sensuality emanating from the set which appealed to me greatly, especially when that quality was explored through sharp tailoring on suits and separates; that cream jacket, as styled with a plain white bralette worn underneath, will certainly have a place in my wardrobe come next spring.

Also worthy of special mention were the rounded handbags on show, along with those block-heeled oxfords. The solid, plain black version is nice enough, but the subtle showstopper had to be the pairs with an empty metal square for a heel

Cue those sighs of longing...
